Background

I don’t spend a lot of time on my personal life (ask my friends how often I call or reach out—ask my mother too!), so I was looking for something easy to deploy and maintain. Hugo seemed to fit the bill!

I use the awesome ansible-nas project for deploying and maintaining my home computer, and recently added shlink for url-shortening to the numerous services. While looking for a shlink-cli I came across Adam Cook’s shlink powershell module and I really liked the layout.

This led me to the a-forementioned Hugo project. I browsed the Hugo themes and settled on shell .

My Use Case

I am largely looking for a landing page, which can aggregate the links to all the services I run/use. As a bonus, I’d like to start documenting my life better so have “posts” is my only-other requirement.

Small Tweaks

I did make some small tweaks to the default template, which is captured in the project layout files. This amounted to:

Include some extra metadata in the post pages, like the publish date.
Add a navigation bar.
Fortunately this used to exist, so this amounted to a cut-and-paste job from Issue 49 .
